Website comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor's IP address and browser user-agent string to help detect spam.

An anonymized string created from an email address may be provided to the Gravatar service. After a comment is approved, the associated profile picture may be visible publicly with the comment.

Website media

If you upload images, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may be able to download images and extract location information stored in them.

Embedded content

Pages may include videos, images, articles, or other content from outside websites. That content behaves as if you visited the originating website and may collect data, use cookies, or track interactions according to its own policies.

Who we share data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email. Visitor comments may also be checked through an automated spam-detection service.

How long we retain data

Comments and their metadata may be retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized. For registered users, we store the personal information supplied in the user profile. Users may view, edit, or delete their personal information, except their username; administrators may also view and edit it.

Your data rights

If you have an account or have left comments, you may request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you or ask us to erase it. This does not include information we must retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
